I am a selected member of Oxfordshire Craft Guild.
Shepherds Cottage Pottery is a purpose built studio located in the pretty village of Horspath. Following a degree in ceramics and further study in America, Jeanne developed her work in a studio in London. After a move to Oxfordshire, studio work was combined with a career in teaching.
All work is hand built or wheel thrown and the majority of items individually hand decorated. Many
designs feature exotic birds from drawings influenced by recent trips to Africa and South America.
Each item is unique, with design carved into leather hard clay before firing. Oxides are then applied to the lines followed by underglaze painting, glazing and another final firing.
Jugs are a speciality but there are also bowls, dishes, boxes and vases in both earthenware and stoneware.
